The IIK was founded in 1989 as a spin-off of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf and is today one of the most successful university-related education providers in Germany.

We are a university-related further education institute with a focus on international education and training and are present in Düsseldorf and Berlin. With approximately 60 employees from many countries, we have been one of Germany's best-known providers in the field of preparing foreign academics for university studies and careers since 1989 (sales of EUR 6.5 million in 2018). As an authorized sponsor by the BAMF, we also offer integration courses and professional language courses in accordance with §45a of the Residence Act for levels B2 and C1. As a non-profit association, we use our surplus funds to support numerous international projects and individuals, such as refugees or students, every year.
